I RHODES CUP TOURNAMENT. The seoond day's play in the Rhodes Cup Tournament waa held yesterday under much improved conditions, both as regards the weather and the state of the ground. The field had dried off well, and thorjgh not fast, it provided good going for the ponies. The drivifcg waa better also, in consequence ot tho improvement in the ground, and some good long shots were witnessed m all tho games. McCracken), 22 goals to 18. . ~ The second round was played m the afternoon. Rangiora opened aggressively, an on two or three occasions charged down on the Pareora goal, but failed to get home. Towards tho end of the first chukka Rangiora evened their handicap by scoring, but the Greens then took a hand, again placed themselves ono up. Tho scoring was vory even throughout, and at no stage was eithor team sufficiently far ahead to make tho result secure. STEAD CUP. Final. Pareora A (A. S. Elworthy captain, P. A. Elworthy, H. Elworthy, and L. Orbell) beat Christchurch A (Major Hutton captain, Captain T. Rhodes, B. B. Wood, P. Johnson), 18 goals to 3. Pareora, the holders, retained the cup after a fast, open game, which was thoroughly enjoyed by players and spectators alike. The pace waa a cracker throughout, and the fine play of' both sides drew frequent applause from the spectators. By splendid driving and fast following up, the Pareora team gamed tho verdict in a gamo which wae generally conceded to bo the best exhibition* of seen this season. Though played with tho utmost vigour by both sides, tho gamo was very clean throughout. - DRAW FOR TO-DAY.
