FIRE BRIGADES.

THE EASTER DEMONSTRATION. A meeting of the general gommittoe of the Canterbury Provincial Firo Brigades' demonstration was held last night, Mr A. Williams presiding over a largo attendance. The Town Clerk (Mr H. K. Smith) wrote stating that tho City Council had accepted the committee's invitation to attend tho church parade on Eister Sunday, -and a motor drive to Sumner the same oiterncon.

The secretary, Canterbury A. and P. Association, wrote that permission had' been given to the committeo to take up voluntary contributions on the fthow Grounds on tho day of tho demonstration.

The secretary of (ho Canterbury Automobilo Association wrote that arrangements were being mado for for the motor drive. The Ground Committee reported thit arrangements in connexion with the water supply to the oval on the Show Grounds were progressing favourably, and the committee would meet on the ground on Saturday, when a trial would take place. The Entertainment Committee submitted a programme for tha smoking conceit, and reported that Derrr's Band had offered their services in connexion with tho church parade. It was recommended that tho parade assemble at 10.13 a.m., and leave the headquarters' station in time for the New Brighton. Brigade to join the paiado at tho corner of Cashel and High streets at 10.45 a.m.; that Foreman Hasard bo 'appointed marshal; and that those taking part in tho motor tour assemble at the headquarters' station at i! p.m. The report was adopted. .■Tho secretary (ill- F. E. Talbot) reported that the following entries had been received: —Gilbert ilemoiml, 15; rescue, 9; hose and hydrant, 3 men, 15; .hose, hydrant, and union, 5 men, 3; five men reel, 7. To date 7 entries 'had been received for the schoolboy events. A draw of the different events, submitted by the secretary, was approved. Officials for the demonstration were elected as follows:—Referee, Mr Ja3. Cow; ground marshal, Lieut. R. T. Burns; judges. Messrs A. E. O'Malley, A. Bambcry. E. B. Hean, IV. Juris-, C. A. Oaies, vV. T. Wilson, H. W. Willeti, J. Cook, W. L. MePherson, E. Burroughs, Captain Carson, and Foreman Donn; examine: s, Messrs C. C. Warner, F. W. Robertson, K. Burns, D. Bamford, R. GrenfelL, D. Round, W. B. F'ulier, and Foreman Fenton: timekeepers, Messrs Jas. Smith, B. Jones, A. G. Fyfe, J. F. Griarson, A. Williams, F. Burgoyne, P. H. Harris, H. R, Rusbridge, and A. Symes; starters, Messrs \V. R. Stevens, L. Stevens, C. J. Treleaven, P. Peaicc, cn-J G. Maxell; time board stewards, Deputy Superintendent Blaio and W. Round.
