ITALIAN SHIPYARDS CLOSING DOWN.
THOUSANDS RENDERED IDLE. (Bv Cable —Press Association—Copyright.) (Australian and N.Z. Cabic Association.) (Received March 30th, 7.25 p.m.) ROME. March 29. Tho famous shipbuilding and ironworking yards of the Ansaklo Company at Genoa, which are known as the "Ivrupps of Italy," are closing down, throwing out of work from 30,000 to 50,000 employees. This decision is said to be due to the Socialists' interference and the Government's imposition of a war profit tax amounting to 500,000,000 lire, which have made it impossible to re-start the works on a peace-time basis.
