. _ 4 OELEBEATJON IN LONDON.
(By Cable—Press Association— Cop fright.) (AustraJian apd*N.Z. Oaole Aasccjitfon.) , (Received May 25th, S.IO p.m.) LOADOfI, May Hi. "Empire Day was celebrated in London and other centres in the customary manner. The Union Jack was hoisted on all public buildings. Ihe school children were given a half-holiday and were paraded, and listened to patriotic speeches.
Field-Marshal Sir Henry Wilson presided at the Koyal Colonial Institute's Empire. Day dinner. In proposing the tpast of "A United Empire" he said he hoped the day would come when the Empire would be able to say to the world that there should be no more war, and there would be no more war. We had seen the destruction of four great empires—Russia, Germany, Austria, and Turkey—but Empire-wrecking was a catastrophe; and we still heard the spattering of bullets in Silesia, Turkey, Mesopotamia, and Ireland.
