LAKE COLERIDGE POWER.
TO THE KPVrn* or "WIS riKSI." 1 Sir,—ln your issue of Tuesday, last I saw a paragraph calling attention to the liniited supply of power, and that consumers are requested to cut down their demands to a minimum; and I say whyp because in the outer districts there Seems to be no limit, On several occasions of late I hove seen the lights on all day, even burning in Borne of the housey out towards Kockburn. I will give two dates, The first was January 29th. I saw the lights <on along the road from Church corner, Riccarton road, into Hornby, and on May Bth, I. witnessed the same sight. Now, who supplies this power? ISo scarcity here. If you happen to live in this-locality you pan have two or three points in your house, and you have unlimited power for overy purpose, yet in this city, for all our most important manufacturing ooncernsj we are told wo must Conserve all the power, and use less, wliile the outer districts can use it pr waste it bv day or night, as the case may I>g. ' Now, the reason why I pen these few lines is this, tor the nest tew months, we want to keep our workrooms going full time, no stops or interruptions. If the power is scarce now, how about the Council running the stand-by plant, also, tho Tramway Board s machinery might os .well be in use as stand idle. It would be earning something, and at the same time meet,n .£ a Public want. ' Honing something will be done.at oncc.-—fourß, etc., UNIT.
