BICYCLE THIEVES.

TO THE EDITOR OF "THE PRESS."

Sir, —In your issue of Saturday I see a letter, signed "Victim," with regard to leniency given to bicycle thieves. Although I dare sav our Magistrate has some reason for allowing probation in these cases, still one can hardly think it acts as a deterrent to others, but rather the reverse. As one who has been victimised twice, and who has been obliged to buy another bicycle on each occasion, I consider a much more severe penaltv should be imposed. Now that this grievance is being ventilated, I hope other victims will keep the ball rolling until something more drastic takes place.—Yours, etc., VICTIM NO. 2.
