AMERICAN LAMB IMPORTATION.
TO THE EDITOE Otr ''THE PKSSS." Sir, —The article you refer to in this morning's issue, taken from the "National Woolgrower," Salt Lake City, and relating to New Zealand frozen meat, "will undoubtedly prove to us the fallacy of relying on reciprocity with America, and confirms the statement made by an American Senator "that Australasia is a grand little country to make money out of." This latter statement is shown on the screens at various picture shows in Australia, pointing out the values of exports and imports between America and Australia. The figures given are vastly in favour of America, and finally point to the moral, viz., support home industries. Why do not our Government do the .same? It is well worthy of consideration, especially as we appear to want to sell our meat, wool, etc., to England, and with the proceeds buy American goods, paying through the nose every time. No wonder prices are still high in New Zealand. America scores every time, and we are the mugs.— Yours, etc., BRITISHER. April 23rd.
