OBITUARY.
MR M. AMY. Mr M. Amy, late town clerk of Rangiora, and a very old resident, died at his residence, Victoria stret, Rangiora, on Saturday afternoon. MY Amy, who was about 82 years, retired from tho position of town clerk only about twelve months ago. He was born in the Channel Islands, and, after receiving the early part of his education there, he vrss sent to Franco to continue and complete his studies. He came to New Zealand in 1867, and for tho first 14 years was a schoolmaster in various parts of Isorth Canterbury, removing to Rangiora in 1882. lie was appointed town clerk and borough surveyor in 1885. Mrs Amy died some timo ago. Mr Amy is survived by one daughter.
