MAGISTERIAL .(Before Mr V. G. Day, S.M.) DRUNKENNESS. A first offender was fined sa, in default 21 hours' imprisonment.. Jack Murphy, nged 21, who pleaded guilty to a charge of disorderly behaviour, white drunk, was convicted and ordered to come up for sentence when called Upon, a prohibition order was also issued against him. OBSCENE LANGUAGE. Alurio Columbus was fined 20s, in default seven days' imprisonment, for using obscene language in a public right-of-way. BY-LAW BREACHES. Frederick Sotberam .and Alfred Hassoll were each fined 6s and costs for cycling on the footpath. Sydney James Simpson was fined £Z tor driving a motor-car without lights. Charles Kelson, for leaving a vehicle without lights, was fined 10s. Cyril I'ass, for driving a vehicle without lights, was fined £2. JUeslie Eobeit Small, similarly charged, was convicted and ordered "to come up lor sentence when called upon. Bobort McClelland, Thomas Clarkson Horn, and Walter James Carpenter, for leaving cars unattended for longer than five minutes were each fined £1 and costs. Douglas Cos, for using an unregistered motor-car, was fined 20s. ■Robert jjay (Mr E. W. White) was fined £2 for driving a car in a dangerous manner. ' • ■ . A charge against D. McDonald (Mr T. W. Eowe), of permitting cattle to graze on a public place, was dismissed. Frank Herbert Thorn (Mr A. J. Malley), .similarly charged, was fined 5s and costs. • ' ' ALLEGED POCKET-PICKING. ■ Harold George, alias Reid, alias Cohen, alias Cowley, appeared on a charge ot attempting, at Addington, on Ftovember 9th, 1920, to steal Irom some person unknown. Mr 0. T. J. Alpers appeared lor accused, and Chief-Detective Mcllveney conducted the prosecution. Detective-Sergeant Gibson gavo evidence to the effect that at the trotting meeting at Addington on iNovember 9tli last year, ho saw the accused and his mate go up to an old man near the bur in the licensed booth, and ieel under his coat. Witness caught them, and called lletective Sheehan, Accused was subsequently charged at the Magistrate's Court with 'attempted theft from the person. Ho was remanded and admitted to bail, but did not answer to his bail when the case was called again. He was subsequently arrested in Adelaide, and extradited to New Zealand.

Corroborative evidence was given by Detective T. J. Sheehan.
