MAGISTERIAL THURSDAY. (Before Mr S. E. McCarthy, S.M.) DRUNKENNESS. A statutory first offeriuer was fined 20s or 48 houra' imprisonment. John Kelly, for a fourth offenoe, was sentenced to three months' imprisonment, and Andrew Watson' was fined £2, or seven days' imprisonment, for a second offence. Michael Moran, for procuring liquor whilet prohibited, was finea £2, or se»en days' imprisonment, and was convicted and discharged for drunkenness. ASSAULT. On a charge of laving assaulted Constables Mulholland and Shine while j n . the execution of their duty, John Wakefield, a Maori (Mr White), was convicted and ordered to come lup for sentence when called upon, ' and to report to the probation officer once a week for two years. CIVIL BUSINESS. In each of the following cases- judgment for the amount claimed, with costs was entered for the plaintiff by default:—National Mortgage and Agency Company 0 f N.Z Ltd ; v T. H. Association of Canterbury, Ltd. v. Vivian James Adlam, £23 2s Cd; same v. Leonard Maugham £2- 4s 6d; Frederick Bradford v. William Spence, £8 15s; H. H. Cook and Co. v.. William Scott, JE4I 10s; N.Z. Loan end MercantileAgency Co., Ltd. v. William Fowler, £l5B 5s 4d; trustees of estate of late James Lane v. Thomas Smith, £25 12s 6d; H. Matson and Co. v. Mrs E. Hendren, £l6 15s sd; A G. Healing aiHl Co. v. Wansbrough and 'Co., £l4 10s 3d. Kincaids, Ltd. (Mr Livingstone) claimed from C. O'Brien (Mr Cuthbert) the sum of £7 la Bd, under a judgment summons. There being no proof of means, no order was made. A debt of £23 15s 10d„was claimed under a judgment summons by John R." Andrews (Mr Upham) from Thomas Tyree! On the ground that therp was no proof-of means, the Magistrate declined to make an order. Robert Dowar, farmer, of Omihi (Mr White) proceeded against A'. H. Giles, farmer, also of Gmihi (Mr Twyneham), claiming £l4 6s' for work done and for a quantity of fencing: wire supplied. Judgment was given for plaintiff for the amount paid into court, £1 8s 2d, and costs 17s, arid the plaintiff being ordered to pay defendant's costs. (Before ify V. G. Day, S.M.) Stanley Beckingsale (Mr Cuthbert) was ordered to give Ada Parry (Mr White) possession of a tenement by June 4th. George Colville was ordered to give possession of a tenement to Frederick Trevor Smith by May 31st. IN OTHER PLACES. PRISONERS SENTENCED AT WELLINGTON. (PBKSS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) WELLINGTON, April 21. . At *the Supreme Court the following prisoners came up for sentence:—Roland Oscar Reeves, breaking, entering, theft, and forgery, was sentenced to two years' reformative treatment; Charles Richard Coutts, breaking, entering, and theft, to two years' hard labour, to be followed by one year'B detention, for reformative treatment; Evelyn Winifred Harris, theft, to reformative treatment fox a period not exceeding two years; Rangi .Ellers, theft, .was .admitted to probation on special terms; Hape Tenure, forgery, to two years' hard labour; Martin Henry Christensen, breaking, entering, and thelt, sentence deferred; John Douglas' Scobie, theft, to six months.
