BUILDING OPERATIONS IN AUCKLAND.
(special to-"thi ?bebs. h V■". AUCKLAND, April 20. A record has been established in,th* amount expended in building in Aitckland for the year ended March 31st, 1921, and if it had not been for the reEtrictions necessitated oy the shortage of material the value of the buildings would have easily topped th? £1,000,000 mark. The 1920-21 total was £B9-5,623, nearly two and a half times the amount expended in the year before the war started. It is interesting to note the totals of several years since 1913, the influence of the war period being most marked. The figures are 1913, £399,258] 1914, £300,354; 1915, £280,431; 1916, £280,972; 1917. £274,097; 1918', £154,758: 1919. £249,356; 1920, £G45,10i-. 1921, £895,623.
