BECKENHAM SCHOOL FAIR. At a meeting of the Beckenham School Fair Committee Sir McAlistcr presided. The secretary presented the-report and balance- sheet, which showed receipts £395 I§b 3d, and expenditure £7O 2s 7d, leaving, a credit balance of £325 16a 2d. The balancesheet" was adopted amid applause, and th® best thanks of the meeting were tendered to v all who in anv way assisted to achieve such a ; handsome return. Fifty per cent, 'of, the amount is to be set aside towards a swim' ming bath, which carries a subsidy of 10a in ! the £; and the remainder goes to the comI mittee for general improvements, which car- . r.ies a subsidy of £ for £. Special reference was made concerning the work done by the secretary (Mr T. 0. Carlisle) and it was unanimously decided tp tender jiirr. a social evening. A committee was set up to mak® arrangements.
PHOTOGRAPHIC SOCIETY. A meeting of those interested: in the formation of a Photographic Society m Chriatehurch was held at the T.M.C.A. rooms on Tuesday. Mr D. E. "Wood explained the necessity of having such a Society in Christchurch. After discussion, it waa decided to go ahead with the proposition. The Society ia to be known as the Cbristcnurch Photographic Society. ; The election of officers resulted as follows:—President, Mr J. b. Wearn; vice-presidents, Messr3 D. E. Wood and R. A. Kennor; committee, Messrs Bascand. Harding, Skinner, Parrie, Fraser, and Williamson; secretary, Mr G. Waller. An exhibition of the works of advanced members of the Society will be held at au early date, to select twelve pictures fox the Inyercargill Photographic Society's Exhibition, which will be held at the end of June.
