BICCABTON. The Kiccartoii Borough Council met last night. Present—The Mayor (Mr A. D. Ford), . and Crs. T. J. Stokes, J. Munninge, "W. C. W. Charters, E. George. A. B. Steero, G. A. Rankin, and C. "W. Barrell. The Lighting Committee Teported that since Inst meeting twelve new consumers had' been connected with the supply, and additions made to three installations.' The Mayor reviewed the work of the past year, and congratulated the Council, on what, had been done. It whs resolved to write to the Tramway Board asking th«<rn to carry out the duplication work on these lines instead of only laying metal. The Kaiapoi Borough Council met last night. Present—Tho Mayor (Mr J..H. Blackwell), Cts. B. Wylio, R. Dunn, T. B. Leithead. W. A. Wallace, J. L.-Smith, W. Doubleday, W. Burnard. and H. Mcintosh. Tho Volunteer Fire Brigade's application for £5 for boot allowance was granted, The' Traffic Manager New Zealand Railways wrote stating that tho reported unpunctuality of trains on the North line wa* havins his Department's best attention. As complaints were still being received, it was decided to, again draw the Railway Department's attention to the matter.

A letter was received from the Post and Telegraph Department with reference to the service in the Kaiapoi telephone exchange, end advising that I,hc" exchange's mires had recently been overhauled. With Tegard to extended hours of attendance, it was cxpJninecl that au extension of hours could not bo granted until the paying' subscribers exceeded 100.

It was decided to co-operate with the Kaiapoi branch of the .Returned Soldiers' Association in tho memorial service on Anzae Day, and to contribute towards the expenses iu«urred. ,

On the recommendation of the borough surveyor, it was resolved, to dispose of cement ll.at had .been obtained tor the erection of the Cam bridge, and also to instol an additional phasa wire on the electrical reticulation off Charles. Cookson, Cass, Jones, Bcswick, and Sewell streets. The recommendations wcro adapted. It was proposed to apply to have the rifle shooting l shield won by the Kaiapoi Jiifle Volunteer Company placed in the Council Chambers.

Being' Hip Inst meeting 'of the present Council, on tho motion of Cr. 'Wylio, seconded by Cr. Mcintosh, a- vote of appreciation and thanks was accorded the ?.Payor for the able vay he had conducted tho business of 'He Council during his term of office. Tho Mayor, in acknowledging the vote, expressed appreciation of tho work done by the conn-' cillois.
