COAL DISPUTE.
NO CHANGE IN POSITION. '
(special to "the rjucss.") WELLINGTON. April 19. Tho coal dispute did not undergo any - change to-day. Tho definite rejection by the employers of tho demands made by tho Miners' Federation loaves tbo < old agreement in operation. The term ' of this agreement has expired, but ono J of its clauses provided that tho agrees j ment should remain in operation until \ it was superseded. This being the case, \ there is no difficulty about the running j] of the mines as far as tho mine-owners ■ are concerned, and the onus of the next move rests with tho Federation. The delegates who met tho employers i'-. at tho abortivo conference,, havo since conferred among themselves in Weilington, and they are reporting to their unions. Tho officers of tho federation had no statement to make to-day, concerning their intentions. Indications are that some days, at least, will clap*, beforo any other move is made.
