' DOMINION TEAM AT HOME. {By Association— Copyright.) (Atutwdian and N.Z. Cable Association.) (Received April 18th, 5.5 p.m.) ■ •■ LONDON, April 17. The New Zealand bowlers have arrived. Tlioy are disappointed that no test fixtures have been arranged. They had expected to play England, Scotland, Ireland, and Wale*. .--... . . LINWOOD CLUB. , An enjoyable afternoon was spent on the Liriwood-Chib's green on Saturday, on tho occasion of a visit of an official Jink from the Cbristchurch Centre to try with the official rink of the club, and the prcfontation by the Centre of the "Pennant Flag" to the Linwood Club. The Centre rink, comprised G. W. Sinithson (president), E. Healey (vice-president), P. .L. Daviea (executive;, and D. E. Wood (hon. secretary), and the club was represented by J. Burgess (vice-president), E. J. Pegg (hon. secretary), J. A. Clarke (hon. treasurer),, and A. Kinvig (assistant-secretary).' After .an exciting game, the club rink won by a narrow margin. During the afternoon tea adjournment Mr Smithson presented the pennant flag to the vice-president, Mr Burgess (in the unavoidable absence of the president, Mr G. Cooper), and congratulated the club on its sporting action in having entered so many teams, and on winning three sections out of five, and finishing up with two winning teams for tho flag. Mr Buxgesa thanked the president for tho kind things said about the club, and in accepting the pennant assured him tha't the club appreciated the honour of winning and holding the "flag," and 'had always strive* to maintain that high standard of fair play and comradeship eo essential ito the weKara of.the- olub and the .life of the rport. After three cheers had been given for the Centre and tho club, and three more for the ladies, who provided afternoon tea, play was resumd. At a meeting of ithe committee later, it was decided to finish the club, competitions on' Saturday next, and to hold, on Monday next, a progressive rink tournament, open •to oujside rinks or individual members. It was decided that entries should cloa-3 with tho secretary on Thursday Lord Curzon, on the Prince of Wales, at the farewell dinner in London to tho American 'Ambassador: —"It has been a very interesting thing to hear the health of wfaat I may call a diplomatist of 'the old school proposed by the moa'c distinguished diplomat of the younger school that the world can show. (Cheers.) If tihe test of a good diplomatist is to say the right, thing at the right time in the right way, and, still mor.\ to know when to sit down, the Prir.ee of Wales is the most finished exponent of the art. Ido not know whether in his busy life his Royal Highness is evev likcly to be at a loose end for a job (laughter)—l think I would suggest to him "that be should found a school, of which he himself should be the head, and in whidh he should teach diplomatists, and I might also add. politicians—(laughter)^—where to begin, what to say, and' where to end. Should such a school be started; I would bring the whole of the Diplomatic Ssrvice with me to take their seats at the feet of his Royal Highness, and I Should ask myself to be his first pupil."
