CRICKET.
"WARNER AND Tllfi TESTS. (By Cable—Pre6s Association —opyri^ht.) (Australian ami N.Z. Cabla Association.) (Received April 17th, 5.5 p.m.) N LONDON, April 15. In an i!r'.ielo in the ''Moriiing Post," P. F. Warner, writing oil "he Test Matches, says:—Armstrong's side possesses a variety of new bowling, which we are anxious to see. The st.ifness of • Great Britain's proposition is appreciated fcy everyor.o. The Australians naturally cominouoa itho tour full oi confidence, but I 'refuse to ba pessimistic. With Hobbs, Hrarnc, Hendren, and Woolley we have a fine nucleus, and need not despair of finding a bowler of the highest class amongst our forty-five 'million people. I 'wish it had been possible to play ono trial game, but county*.cricket dominates all interests. When the Aus-trali-'ina next vifcit us, 1 trust ft. wj'der view will prevail, and the county programme will be reduced. Thsro will be little . enough time (o organisu a representative team before May SS'.ii. Warner adds a suggestion that the selec-, tors of the team should search oiltaide .the firrt.cla r 3 counties for bowlens. He says ho hap, he.u'd of several first-claFii men among thy minor counties. One cf the difficulties of the selectors is. the fact Ithat our beet bowlers and v,'icket-l:eepers aro not batsmen. 'Thij is very different from the days when the- attack- lay jin the hands of Lockwood, Hirst, Braund, Rhod-M, Jaclcson, and Lilley. One reason of tho Australians' superiority is that they have no tail,, while ours is as long, as a kangaroo's.
