ELECTION OF SCHOOL COMMITTEES.
- So many enquiries have been made as to.who is qualified to vote ajt tho forthcoming election, of school committees, and as the effect of the 1919 amendment (re-"iling the' term "resident household, j to the Act' is not fully realised, the Canterbury Education Board in an advertisement in thb issue sets out tho qualifications. Under tho amended Act and Kegulations all house-holders, and no other persons, arc qualified both to vote at the election and to be elected members of the, School Committee. A person claiming qualification in respect of residence in the district must have occupied, for at least three months next before the day of election, a dwelling-house within the school district, as owner or tenant. But in the case of the parent guardian of a child -attending the school, residence within the district is not necessary.'
