Plumbers and painters have been enquiring for work, but'nothing :i offering at present. • SITUATION IN DUNEDIN. (SPECIAL TO "THE ri(ESB.") DUNEDIN, April 15. A few days ago It was stated that gome warehouses had reduced their staffs by putting off hands who' had been temporarily employed and reference was mndo to the matter, of eonimon knowledge, that tfce boot factories were only working part-time.' Since their tlie position has not crown any worse in Dunedin as regards the wjtiolasaltf houses. Tlie whole _ situation in Dunedin is not at ail serious. Jlr B'rowett, of tho Labour Department, declares that with, tlhe exception of about a. dozen labourthis number including a party of tivo who recentiy "came from England and saw no prospects in tlie North Island, his office lias been able to plucis all tho persons applying for work
