festerday morning, Mr V. G. Day, District Coroner, opened an inquest on the, body found in the Ashley river, supposed to be that of a labourer named Jeremiah Coughlan, of Islington. After taking the evidence of Constable Robertson, the enquiry was adjourned till April 26th. (FMMS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM!.) . . BLENHEIM, April 14. it is reported from Seddon that James Dufly was burned to death in a whare on the roadside at the Lion's Back. The man worked on Avery's farm. He left the Seddon Hotel at 8 o clock last evening. His horse, with the reins broken, and lis dog, arrived home, but Duffy was missed. It is not known why he should have visited the whare, which was unoccupied. It was found in flames at 3.15 this morning. mVERCARGILL, April 14. The police have been informed that human remains have been washed ashore at Colac Bay, in the vicinity of the spot where two fishermen are believed to have been drowned a short time ago. The remains are unrecognisable.
