COAL DISPUTE.

CONFERENCE MEETS TO-DAY., (BPBCIAL TO "THB PRBSB."). WELLINGTON, April 14. A conference between the coal-mjirio owners and the Miners' Federation is to bo held to-morrow. The proceedings are to be open to the Press. Two sets of demands will be before tho conference^—one- presented by the miners, including a six-hour day, and the other produced by tho owners. The gulf between the parties will be very wide, and agreement obviously will be difficult to achieve. The owrier3 have indicated already that they aro opposed to another national agreement, and wish to revert to district agreements. The miners will resist this change.
