FIRES.
The Fire Brigade was-called out at 3:34'•a.m. yesterday to- a seven-roomed House owned and occupied.by Mr A. A. McKenzie, ,'at 40 Lancaster street. The. ■fire was found to be confined to a towlwhich was destroyed, while a corner of the dwelling-house was badly scorched. ■ - At 5.40 p.m. yesterday the Brigade turned out to a hedge fire in Hazeldean road, near Selwyn street, adjoining the railway line. \ About a the hedge was destroyed before the outbreak was subdued. (press association telegram.) NEW PLYMOUTH, April 12. A fireoecurred at 8 o'clock last night in the Dremi&ea of West and Sonß,' painters and paperhangers. Owhyj tcy the flames having a good hold before they were discovered, and the inflammable nature of the stock,' the fire was eot suppressed before the building had been gutted. It was practically a total loss. The insurances on the building 'were £6OO, and'«n the-stock £I2OO. The loj-s aßove the insurance is estimated at from £IOOO to £ISOO.
