THE RAILWAY DISPUTE.
SETTLEMENT ARRIVED AT. (PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) WELLINGTON, April 12. The engine-drivers' dispute has beon settled for tho present. Whatever trouble there was is now at an end. The Prime Minister and tho General Manager of Railways had a long conferenoe with representatives .of the E.F.C.A., as the result of which an understanding was arrived at. Mr Massey said the whole thing was really a misunderstanding, according to his point of view. Anyhow, putting it another way, it was a mere difference of' opinion as to the interpretation of a clause in the agreement. This difference of opinion was not with the Prime. Minister or the General Manager, hut with the officers of tho Department who had the matter to deal with. There was no fear of trouble.
