OBITUARY.
LORD ROSSMORE. Loid Rossraore died at the family seat of the Westenras, Rossmore Castle, on January 31st, in his 68th year. Ho served in the 9th Lancers and Ist Life Guards. He was Honorary Colonel of the sth Battalion of the Royal Irish Fusiliers, also Lieutenant and Custos Rotulorum of County Monaghan, which office lie held up to the date of his death. He. was the first landlord in Ulster to offer to sell to his •tenants after the passing of the Laud Purchase Act in. 1903. He was a keen sportsman, and in his earlier days owned several good horses, among them being Passaic, with which he won the City and Suburban' in 18S2. He was also Master of the Monaghan Harriers. He was an intimate friend of the late King Edward VII., and could, tell many interesting and amusing stories of the Royal •Familv. Some of these he embodied in a book. "Things I Can Tell," published a few years ago. His son, the Hon. William Westenra, who succeeds lmn, was born on July 12th, 1892. He was a Lieutenant R-.X.V.R. in the Roval Naval Division during the war m Belgium, the Dardanelles, and: France. Dnring the latter part of the war he acted as Flag Lieutonant to .the Admiral Commanding the Naval Forces in the White Sea. He is at present Hiirh Sheriff of the County of Monaghan, . Mr Heurv Bills, foreman mechanist for Conlls,' 'Culling, and Co.,''printers, of Dunedin, who died on Sunday, aged 54 vears, : joined the -firm's. servjee 42 years ago. He was widely known as a dancer at the OtagO-Caledonian sports. He-'won. sixty'first prizes, twenty-five seconds, a.nd twenty thirds. Of late, he had judged for the Otago Pipers' and Dancers' Association. The deceased was 'a Forrester, and a. member of the T/oval Lodge of Oddfellows.
