ANTI-IMMIGRATION.
. - —♦— ■ STATEMENT BY NEW SOUTH WAXES PREMIER. (By Cable— Pxtu AMOciatiom— Copyright > (Australian and N.Z. Cable Awooiation.) ■ LONDON, April 7. The Hon. John Storey, Premier of New South" Wales, in an interview with, the Australian Press Association, made reference to the Press cablegrams announcing that a Sydney Trades Hall delegation had been sent to England td oppose immigration on the ground of unemployment in New South Wales. He stated that he was unable to determine from the cables either the purpose or composition of the delegation. If they were from the Sydney Trades and Labour Council he would take no notice of them, because they neither formed part of the Labour movement nor represented any considerable section of the workers. If, on the other hand, they were emissaries of the' Political Labour Party, he was confident their mission was not inimical to the State. He sertajnly u would not oppose immigration of the right class., It was probable the mission was to obtain information and investigate of the workers ir Britain and on the Continent. H© was cabling to the Government for information. [A message from Sydney on Thursday stated:—"Mr Garden, secretary J of the Labour .Council, stated that President J Howie and the secretary of the Coopers' Union (T. Earsman} were visiting England for the anti-immigration campaign."] i
