CASUALTIES.
A painful accident occurred on Saturday evening to Mr W. Fox, who resides at 61 Cambridge terrace. He (had .been tq the Leeston races, and on the return journey got off the train at the Hornby station. While walking along, the Riccarton roadj leading the racehorse Golden Sun in a 6ulky, he was run into from behind by a motor-bicycle and side-car. The impact knocked him and t>he horse down. Mr Fox, although severely bruised; and shaken, was able to proceed to his , The horse was not badly injured, but considerable damage was done to the sulky. Miss Emmerson, a young woman, was admitted to the Christchurch Hospital yesterday, suffering from injuries received in a motor accident at about 11 a.m., at the intersection of Manchester and Kilmore streets. At the time of the accident she was in a side-car attached to a motor-cycle, driven by a man named Sutcliffe, the vehicle collißng at the corner stated with a motorcar which entered Manchester street from Kilmore street. Miss Enurierson's condition is stated to be satisfactory. (PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) PAKMERSTON NORTH,-April 9. ' Herbert Douglas Larsen, a sawmill hand and a returned soldier, was killed at Piripiri, near Pohangina, yesterday, as the result of the collapse of a bridge while a horse and loaded trolley were being driven over it to the sawmill. Deceased was hurled with the trolley and the log it was carrying 100 ft below to a creek, where the body was found in the debris.
