MEETING OF COMMITTEE. . At. tho monthly .meeting :<Jf the' Peninsula Electric Power Board. there were present:—Messrs A. Goodwin (chairman), J. D. Bruce, J. R. Thacker, W. F. Parkinson, J. El Mejnin,g>v Geo. Armstrong, and. J. V. Chapman. . Mr J. R. Tcmplin, consulting engineer, was also in attendance. ' It was resolved to leawb the. matter of the insurance of the store,-and stock at Little. River in tho Hands of the chairman, engineer, and secretary. The chairman stated that he had arranged for poles up to the number of 280 to .be purchased .from Wilson's Estate at IBs per tree. Tho chairman's action was apjroveo-. The„ chairman and Mr Thicker .reportedthat arrangements had. been . made with Mr A t Brown .to. cart poles from Little River by means of traction engine.. . The chairman reported that Mr E. Macartney, of lai Tapu,-had arranged to commence; the erection of the main transmission line at Motukararai, oh April lljh. It was resolved that members of the Board bp present, if possible, and that local bodies and the public generally be invited to witness the erection of the first pole on the main transmission line at Motukarara at 11 a.m, on Monday. It'was resolved that the Board's meetings be held alternately at Duvauchelles and Little Rivet. . It was agreed that the Works Committee appoint eny necessary labour on advice from ftie -assistant engineer as to labour requirements, the foreman to have authority to discharge any unsatisfactory men. < It was. resolved -that the schedule of rates to consumers for the supply of electric cur-, rent be in accordance with the scale of eharges recommended by Mr Templin, viz. : Lighting 8d per unit, minimum charge 5e per month in Akaroa Borough; minimum charge in rest of district, 7s -6d per inonth. General powsr rates, £3 per. h-.p. per year, connected load, plus 3d for the first 80 uruta per month, 2d for the next 120 units per month, and Id for all over 200-units per month. . For consumption from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., the charge per unit is to We reduced to Jd, the. consumer to supply the reouired time switch. Milking motor rates, £6 10s per h.p. connected load ger year, plus the same unit ratea as for general power. Heating, same as general power rates. The Canterbury Progress League 'wrote regarding completion of the Harper river diversion into Lake Coleridge. It was decided to! support the League's action, and tho secretary was instructed towrite to the Minister of Public Works accordingly. : Mr J. D. Bruce stated that, on account of ill-health, he was very reluctantly compelled to tender his resignation as -a member of the Board. All the members expressed their sincere legret at the prospect of losing Mr Bruce's services, which had been of very great value to the Board, and on Mr Thick? ei;'3 motion, it was unanimously resolved to ask Mr Bruce to reconsider hie decision, and to grant him three to six months' leave of absence, in the hope that he might then again carry on his good work with renewed health. . Finally Mr Bruce was persuaded to agree to this proposal.
