Sinn Fein attacks were made on the police all over mid-Tyrone last night. Eight constables have been Bent to hospital, seriously wounded. (Received Aoril 7th, 7.55 p.m.) LONDON, April 7. Armed Republicans forced soldiers to drive two military lorries, transporting flour from barges, to a selected spot. The flour was emptied into the canal, and the lorries were set on fire and destroyed. At the inquest on the murder of Thomas Shannon, a farmer of Kilrush, County Clare, it was disclosed that his assassination was the outcome of Shannon's secession from the Sinn Fein movement. Shannon acted as Magistrate of a Sinn Fein Court, but criticised the Court's methods, and withdrew his active participation in the movement. A military lorry, which was ambushed in Harcourt street, Dublin, returned the fire of the assailants. Two civilians were killed and three wounded. ARCHBISHOP MANNIX. LONDON, April 6. The Rome correspondent of tho "Moraine; Post" says Archbishop Mannix's visit is pf no political importance. His silence during his stay has been noticed, and is attributed to a plain hint which was received from a most august quarter io keep quiet while in Rome.
