The flour was emptied into the canal, and the lorries were set on fire and destroyed. At the inquest on the murder of Thomas Shannon, a farmer of Kilrush, County Clare, it was disclosed that his assassination was the outcome of Shannon's secession from the Sinn Fein movement. Shannon acted as Magistrate of a Sinn Fein Court, but criticised the Court's methods, and withdrew his active participation in the movement. A military lorry, which was ambushed in Harcourt street, Dublin, returned the fire of the assailants. Two civilians were killed and three wounded. ARCHBISHOP MANNIX. LONDON, April 6.
