CASUALTIES.
•The adjourned hiqucst into tho death of V Jtaftiik McAtavey, a miner from Otira tunnel, who died in the Hospital on Tuesday, following on injuries suffered through a fall from a window in the Zetland Hotel on Jlarch 26th, was resumed, last evening. Dr. A. B. Pearson said he, had. conducted a postmortem examination. Ho found jnr juries in the sfciill affecting tho. brain, and aWin tho. chest and ribs. The cause of death was duo to oedema of- the brain, following- injuries received and associated with injuries to tho lungs. The Coroner, Mr S. E. , McCarthy, found a verdict that deceased died as a result of 'injuries following through his wilfnllv .precipitating himself through a window in tho hotel.
(PRRSS ASSOCIATION TEIXORASI.) INVEROARGILL, April G. James McFarlane, aged 78, a retired merchant, was found drowned in the Riverton estuary on Tuesday afternoon. There !s no trace of James Cook and Georgo Heriot; the fishermen of Colac "Buy, who have been missing with their launch since last Thursday. A tragedy is feared, as portions of the boat, the engine-box and a benzine case and tin havo been washed ashore. Botn men had long war servico and were strong swimmers.
