< SOCIETY'S ANNUAL REPORT; The thirteenth animal report of the' Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Women and Children states that much, indeed most, of the labour of the Society is hidden work and does not receive.publicity. It is not desirable it should. But the tabulation of the 302 cases dealt with wilTgive some indica-tion-of the activities of the Society and' the good and efficient work being earned' on by lister Edith Walton as secretary and adviser The Society raised its voice m uor . availing .prote'st against the Illation amending the Marriage Act last year. It views with grave foreboding, m the interests of women and particularly children the ; extraordinary facilities that have been given for divorce in this country. The toneful influence of certain types-of picture films; the evil suggestiveness of the advertisements of many of such shows, ' are matters which caused the Society much concern. We are thankful for what the Censor has done, but we look for much more under th*. sympathetic control of the Hon. G the Minister of this Department. The establishment of children's theatres, or at least tho arrangement of certs in days or hours for children's entertainment would bo a. great gain; as would also be the appointment of a woman coadjutor as censor.
