TRAMWAY BOARD.
FORTNIGHTLY MEETING., The Christchurch Tramway v Board met yesterday afternoon. Present: The Hon. J. Barr, M.L.O. (chairman), H. Pearce, J. Wood, W. J. Walter, D. Sykes, S. H. Staples, and A. S. Taylor. It was decided to receive the deputation regarding the Bryndwr deputation, at the next meeting of tho Works and Traffic Committee, which comprised practically all the members of the Board.
A lengthy letter was received from the Canterbury Progress League ( pointing out the urgency of continuing the work of making a permanent diversion of the Harper river into Lake Coleridge, and asking the Board to support the attitude, adopted by the League, also suggesting that any action taken should be by direct appeal to the Government. JUr A. S. Taylor pointed out the importance of the Lake Coleridge scheme to the Board. The Harper river diversion was of the utmost importance to the Board, and its constituents. Mr S. A. Staples stressed the urgency of the permanent diversion work being proceeded with. It was decided to support the League as requested, and to support any petition to the Government.
