THE ARMS ACT.
POSSESSION OF EEVOLVERS.
(PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGEAH.)
WELLINGTON. April 1
A peculiar point has arisen in connexion with the issue of,- permits to persons, to retain automatic revolvers as war souvenirs. The Act narrows those persons to ex-members of the New Zealand Expeditionary Force and their near relatives. Application has been made by many ex-members of the Imperial, Australian, Canadian, and other British forces to retain these mementoes, .and their applications havibeen noted pending a ruling by the Minister or Parliament. In no _ case will a person be allowed to retain or purchase ammunition for or suitable for conversion to automatic pistols. The regulation governing the issue of permits insists that the possessors of souvenirs must notify changes of address to the Arms Office within 48 hours oi making a move, otherwise they render themselves liable to a substantial fine or imprisonment. The police intend to enforce the Act to the letter ot the regulations. To-day was the last day for handing in automatic revolvers.
