PEONAGE IN AMERICA.

Atlanta messages stated that tho oufcstanding feature of the peonage situation is the reported intention to hold a Congressional investigation of the peonage systems. There is a rumour that Klu Klux Klan, which still exists throughout tho south as a powerful secret-organisation, working along the lines of retributive justice"will take up the, Williams case, and preliminary to tho organisation of vigilance committees in tho Jasper, Tyler, and other counties of Georgia, will keep the public peace. April 4th his been fixed as the date for the trial of Williams on tho ohargo of murdering negroes. Williams's eldest son, who is a practising physician, and fought in France and won British decorations, interviewed, declared that bis father was innocent, but admitted the existence of a widespread peonage system in Jasper County.
