A.L.P. CONFERENCE.
SYDNEY, April 1. The annual conference of tno Australian Labour- Party unanimously adopted the report of the executive censuring the Government for not calling an early meeting of Parliament and also for refusing to make appointments to,the Legislative Council. The Labour Conference was marked by strong factional friction, and considerable disorder. In one case two members resorted to blows.
CHAMBEES OF COMMERCE,
SYDNEY, April 1. The annual conference of Chambers of Commerce • resolved in favour of a reduction in the postage rates, moro trunk telephone lines, and the granting of facilities for creating new States ■ within the Commonwealth.
SHOOTING OF MB BBOOKFUBLD.
ADELAIDE, April 1. At the inquest on Mr Brookfield, Tomayeff reserved his dofenco, and was committed for trial on a charge of murder. Mounted Constable Woodhead, in evidence,- said that when ho was being escorted to Adelaide the accused said: "Yo» will not forget to tell the Judge I got £IOO to shoot Brookfield."
