CARS STRUCK BY LIGHTNING.
__ ♦— —- A STARTLING EXPERIENCE. (SPECIAL TO "THE PRESS.") NELSON, March 29. : There was a startling occurrence at .Tapawera during the dog trials. _ A number of spectators were standing near several motor-cars, when a flash of lightning struck the centre of the cars. It was accompanied by ,a loud report. Fire played along the groiyid, and the smell of burning was most pronounced. Arthur Kerr was stunned, and Edward Kerr and several others received slight shocks. A number..of dogs broke loose and dashed about in all directions. For a few minutes thoro was considerable confusion. A kerosene tin, containing food, was also Btruuk. witnesses of the occurrence state that for a moment it was liKo a I'laz.ii;? fire. During the time the siorm v. as running its course, each flash of liphtning caused considerable 'ipprehon>iion, and the spectators were considerably relieved when flhe weather cleared. Arthur Kerr soon recovered from the worst effects of the shock, and was able to take part in the proceedings yesterday. '
