PRESBYTERIAN SUNDAY SCHOOL UNION.
The annu*i Confaror.ee of tho Chris tchurch Presbyterian Sabbath School Union was held at Sumner 01 Good Friday. Tho Rev. W. McAra welcomed over 60 Sunday school teachers ar.d friends from the city and suburban school#. The Sunnier teachers kindly provided left for tho visitor, and luncheon waa enjoyed in pichio fashion in tho Church grounds. At the afternoon meeting', in the absence of tho president, the Rev. W. T. Todd, owing to illness, Jir T. W. R. Hitt presided. The Rev. 2v. 0. \Yhito (liiecnrton) addressed tho meeting on the subject of "The Sunday School oa a Training Ground for Church Membership," and stressed tho great opportunity given fo Sunday school teachers, particularly to those teaching children of the early adolescent poriod. In tho discussion that followed, Miss Gnrmson and Mr Hampton were tho chief speakers. The Rev. J. Patterson then spoke of "Th,° Joys of Sunday School Teaching," in which ho mentioned (l) tho pleasuro of working among: children, (2) the Biblo as tho best of text books, (3) tho great aim of the teaching, and (4) tho joy of seeing tho teaching j realised iu tho development of Christian i workers. i From 3.30 the afternoon was free for recreation-, and at 5 o'clock tea was served In ■ the Church. ! Tho Conference, on tho whole, waa very successful and although perhaps not so well attended ns some have been, the subjects discussed were exceedingly interesting and helpful Votes of thanks were passed to the BP 4 ®*' ere, and to the Sumner teachers,, who had ! made arrangements for receiving the Conferj ence.
