BIBLE CLASS CAMP.

THE PTTOAU GATHERING. . At the Presbyterian Young Men's Bible Class Camp and Conference, good progress wus made on Saturday, while Sunday was devoted more particularly to thb -spiritual work of tho moment. It, .'was' decided that next Easter Camp shall be held at Wangamri. Delegates from all parts exhibited keen interest in a discussion on the Bible Class Summer which is held each yeai in conjunction with tho'young women's movement. At Hawora last Christmas there were nearly 1100 registrations, and it is felt that the conference is becoming too big to handle. One means suggested to reduce its' tire 1 was to cut the young men out, leaving the gathering entirely to the girls, and another to impose a, minimum ago limit of sixteen yeaia. Neither -of these proposals met with any great support; however, and it was .resolved'-:.— "That in the-opinion; of this.-Conference: (1) The Summer Conference, :by reason f of its size, has become unwieldy. (2) That.this can best bo remedied by separating the business of the Young Women's Union from the-Sum-mer Conference; and that it be.a suggestion to tho Young Women's Union to revert to their previous practice of having their business conference -at Easter. (3) If this were agreed to, the way .would then be open to split the Summer Conference into as many sections as would bo found necessary."

A recommendation from the "-executive:— "That the Youth Conimitteb of the General Assembly be pressed to proceed with the appointment of a Bible Class eecretary," was adopted. Mrs S. Wilkinson (Canterbury) gave notice to move at next annual meeting that the constitution bo amended' to permit of the youth director and the Bible Class secretary (when appointed) being members, ex officio of the executive. •■■'.' After several speakers had stressed ■ the need for more leaders, it was decided to rw-ommend to district committees' that, wherever possible, leadership training classes be conducted this winter, such courses to be preferably inter-denominational. For the next two years, the union executive will be located in Dunedin Officers for 1021-1922 were elected as follows: —President, Mr G. Manson (North-East. Valley); vicepresidents, Messrs J. .Farquhareon and H. C. Campbell; secretary, Mr 3. L. Gregory. (Rcalyn); treasurer, Mr B. Carlylo. It was decided that an office of badge secretary be created and located in Auckland, where the budges are manufactured. MISSIONARY NEEDS. Two stirring missionary appeals formed the feature of Sunday in camp. Divine service in the forenoon wa* taken by the Rev. "Jack" McKsnzie, of Okaihau and Kaihohe, North Auckland, who spoke of the needs of the Home Mission field. A returned soldier and representative Rugby footballer—he played for the University of New Zealand against Sydney last winter—Mr MoKenzie held the attention of the boys throughout. He summed' his address up in two words: "Men wanted.'' The Presbyterian Church in Now Zealand wanted thirty additional home missionaries right away—twenty of them for stations already opened. The people of the new districts in the north, and of tho older but equally isolated backblocks of tho south, were just hungering for the Gospel message. Those men now in the field were doing great work, but. tho task was beyond them, and some were breaking down under the strain. This was a young man's work, and it was woTk for Now Zealand young men. It gave a feeling of shame that their Church had had to go overseas for the men whom it needed. The speaker at a large afternoon meeting was Sister Jessie, of the Maori Mission at Xuhaka. Her appeal also ' was for men helpers. ATHLETIC SPORTS. Saturday was ladies' day at camp, and in the afternoon the annual clas3 competition fov the athletic banner was held. Last year's holders were St. Andrew's, Hamilton, but on Saturday "tho Roslyn (Dunedin) boys had a decided win, scoring forty pointo as against nineteen to St. Peter's, Christchurch, Roslyn accordingly will hold the banner until next Ea6ter.
