NINTH ANNUAL CONVENTION. PINAL, DAY'S PBOCEEDINGS. The ninth annual convention of the New Zealand Coach and Motor Vehicle Trades' Industrial Association of Employers was resumed yesterday in the Ridgely HaUj under the chairmanship of the president, Mr J. W. Scurr; there were thirty-five delegates present. Duty on Motor Bodies. Mr George Dash introduced the question of the tariff proposals, and he moved: "That the secretary write to the Garage Proprietors' Association, stating that this conference considers that the statements made to the Tariff Commission, .in reference to the duties on motor bodies, were made without due consideration of the position in its present stage of development; and that the Convention has appointed a, committee to discuss the position with your executive in the hope of presenting a united front." In speaking to the motion the mover covered the whole of the position of the'industry from its inception, and he advocated conferring with the Motor Garage Proprietors' Association before the proposals of the Association were submitted. Mr Joll seconded the motion. A lengthy discussion ensued on every phase of the question, Messrs Rush, Ncilson, Johnson, Rawlings, Voyce, Boon, Cooper, and others largely interested in the motor body building taking part. . The motion was .carried unanimously. Mr C L. Neilson (Dannevirke) laid ou tho iable a number of interesting photographs of the workshops of his firm as well as those of a very large number of motor bodies he had recently completed. _ . Guide to Prices. Tho committee that was appointed at the previous Convention to prepare and publish a price list for the guidance of the members of the Association, presented' their report together with proof copies of tho publication. It was decided to have 2000 copies printed at a cost of £550, and to supply all affiliated associations with any number they may require. The title of the book is the "Dominion Guide to Prices," and the charges contained in the work are based on a costing system that has been submitted to tho.Board of Trade. . Election of Officers. The following officers were elected: President, Mr D. H. Taylor (Wellington) ; vice-presidents, North Island, 'Mr D Wallace (Te Aroha); South Island, Mr J. E. Nesbit (Invercargill); auditor, Mr R. A Fuller (Palmerston North); secretary,' Mr E. C. Harvie (Palmerston North). , The proceedings then closed.
