♦ CHEVIOT. At tho last meeting of the Cheviot Cfcrantj\ Council there were present—Messrs T. Stcv (chairman*. J. H. L. Hiatt, J. Pa tor.. W. Li. Foster, and L. l£acfajlaw>. Tho County Clerk reported that the GoAccident Insurance had made very satisfactory arrangements for a final settlemeat oi acciJcnt claim in reaped to Mx W. B. I>aly, forman of •works. It -was decided to place on record tho Council's appreciation of the faithful services rendered by Mr Daly end regret that through accident ho was compelled to relinquish his duties. Tbo chaiJman was nominated for electr.cn to the now WaimtUtariri Harbour Board to represent the county and also i:or the JCorth Canterbury Hospital arid Charitable Aid Board to represent tho combined district of Knikoura and Cheviot. The Returning 1 Officer reported that the poll on Mackenzie township Joan of £1200 had been carried. The resolution levying an annual rccurring special rate of 3Jd over the township area to provide interc6t find sinking | fund carried. Tpmplin was present- in connexion with the electrical scheme.
