Tho secretary of the London Hospital states that there is not the remotest intention of closing down, though a gradual restriction of activities may bo necessary in order that steps may be taken to pufc the institution on a sounder financial- basis. It is explained that Lord Knutsford's statement respecting London Hospital must not be taken literally to mean that, it may be necessary to reduce tho hospital's scientific activities. Tho authorities of most hospitals .say that tho end of the voluntary system has not- yet come. [A message published yesterday stated: Lord Knutaford, Chairman of the London Hospital, announces that the hospital, which is the biggest in Great Britain, will be closed at New Year. Already thero is a deficit of £100,000, and it is impossible to meet the immense increases in tho cosfc of Running on a voluntary basis. State aid is esj sen tin!.] ______________
