—* — A FALSE ALARM. On the arrival at Lyttclton of the G. 53 p.m. train from OhTistchurch on Saturday, it was reported that a. man had fallen from, the train in the tunnel. Two railwayrnen were se-nt tlirougli tho tunnel, oil a jigger, tho boat train, in the meantime feeing held up at Heathoote, but. they were unable to find any trace of the, man. TIIE PICTURES. "Out of I/uok," Btorrin<i Dorothy Gi?h, will be repeated at tho Harbour Lights Pictures to-night, together with a, do Haven comedy and a. gazette. To-morrow "The Walk OAs," featuring May Allison, will bo screened. The first episode of tho thrilling serial, "T,he Great Gamble," will also Ira shown. The stars in this serial are Arm Luther and diaries Hutchison, and it is described o-3 the greatest ".stunt" eorial ever filmed. Tho Harbour Lights have secured th.> great sporting drama, "Tho Great Game," for ecroeninjj r.cxt week. DANCE. A delightful danco was given in the Club' Hall on Thursday evening by_ Captain, F, A. Bond and officers of tho training ship Woodarra., to tho various committees of ladies in both Lyttclton and Cliristohurcli who had organised entertainments and dances for them during their first visat to Lyttclton, eomo six months ago. There was a largo attendance, including Captain Dickinson, of the 8.1. steamer Ca.na.ra, and officers of that ehip. Supper was provided in the billiard-room of the club, the tables being artistically decorated with black and white streamers, tho colours of tho 8.1. Company. Tho danco music was supplied by Mr Sutherland's orchestra. Tho chaperons were Mesda.mea Thorpe, Wilcox, and White-Parsons. Amongst those present were Misses Meiklo, Elliott, C res well (2), Foster, B. Harris, E. and I. lJundy, Tliorpo (2),. D. Morris, il. Tom.lrn.son, A. M. McLean, I. Plimmer, A. Scott, WhiteParsons (2), R. Flynn, I. G-uy, M. Murray, Turner, T. Comer, Captain . Wilcox, and Messrs Elliott, Hilsdon, and Broome. SEAMEN'S INSTITUTE. The Lyttclton Ladies' Guild provided tho programnio at the weekly conceit at tlw Htainen'e Institute on Thursday evening. The hall wan crowded with eeamen. and a jiK»t enjoyable time wad sp:nt.
