CASUALTIES.
; —*- (press association telegram.) AUCKLAND, June 9. The young man, James Mallin, -who was picked uj> unconscious alongside the Onehunga railway line at Penrose, on ■ .Monday night, and taken to the Auckland Hospital, died thiß morning. So far enquiries have failed to elicit the explanation of how Mallin came to fall from the train. He and a companion, Murdoch McLeod, of Onehunga, were found beside tho line, both being injured. _ -McLeod's injuries were much less serious than those of Mallin, whose skull -was fractured, and McLeod is now an oui-patient of the hospital. Beyond a statement that they were standing on the carriage platform, and fell ■& . train, no explanation has been given of the accident.
