Tha resolution to fco confirmed wa?: —"That a past president or a member of the General Committee of the Association shall cea'o to be a- member of the committee of the Association it for a period of thro eon- • fcecutive months he fail--; to attend jiny meeting of the committco without, obtaining leave of absence." The president said it would be a, grcal mistake, and it might cause .1 great deal of friction, if the resolution were confirmed. Other members agreed that the ratifying of the- resolution misht be the means ot driving past presidents or members of tho committee ojit of the Association. The motion ivts lost on the voices. Tho recommendations of the General Committee ffr«jar<ding> improvements to show , grounds were r s lollows : —Tli2 General Com- ' mittee has had under consideration the question of erection of new sheep pons, and has decided that as many 'as possible of the present pene be removed to and utilised in tho new Bite at the railway end of the. sho-v grounds. The approximate number of sound pens would bo 400, and ;i certain amount of timber of the remaining pens could be utilised. The Committee had considered the question of roofing and has decided that, on account of tho high cost of iron it would j be belter to postpone tho roofing of pens in j the meantime, but that provision be made , in erecting tho pens for carrying a roof at I some future time by putting in concrete i posts. The approximate cost of erecting ICOO | pens, taking into .account, the available j timber in the old pens, would be -£2c03. In reply to a member the chairman said it was hoped that the improvements to the pens would to completed by next «how. Mr Gebbie moved that tli3 competition pens remain as they aro for the present season. ; A member considered that it would be im-poz-sible to have the work done in time lor the coming show, as cement was-, not availuble. Th© chairman ?n,id that the present shortage of cement could bo overcome by putting in temporary posts, and making tho concrete posts later on. The recommendations wcro adopted, ana the report was referred to <he Sheep Committee to tarry out, tho Committee being empowered to vso hardwood pesta if sufft cient, cement for concrete post 3 could not bo procured. . . Tho chairman said that tho Association must be progressive., and the Committee should show people that - it was in earnest in improving liw grounds. He hoped no o'jstacle would 1.0 put i:i tho way of the proposed work bsaag done.
