AUSTRALIAN LABOUR PARTY.
i—6 : POLITICAL OUTLOOK. (By Cable—Press Association—Copyright.) (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association.) Juno 7 The report presented at the annual conference of the Australian Labour Party issued a warning that, with tlie Government's narrow majority, _ it was not to expect- too much. If it wero found impossible to carry out the programme another appeal would ho made to the people for more power. Tho -report urged the need for the terminating of tho leases of milli'O'ns of acres, held by large companies and financial institutions, to provide living areas for thousands of land seekers who are unable to obtain land. The report condemned proportional representation and the proportional' system under which the electors wero hoodwinked and unable to get a "square deal." It stressed the need for harmonious relations between tho party and the Labour Council, hut, in order to secure this, it. was absolutely imperative that the personnel of the Council officials* should be changed; otherwise unity of effort was out of the question.
