MESOPOTAMIA AND SYRIA.
RESTORING ORDER. (By Cable—Press Association—Copyright.) (Router's Telegrams.) (Received June 6th. 11.55 p.m.) LONDON, June o. The War Office, in its weekly review of operations, says_ thaj; in Mesopotamia raiding activity on the Upper Euphrates has largely ceased, as the result of the raiders' losses, but raiders on May 34th wrecked a goods train south of Omul, causing thirteen casualties.
In Syria, French columns, operating in tho Tyre region, against the Metwalis, who recently massacred 70 Christians. swept the country as far as the southern boundary of tlie French* tcrritory. By an oversight, a village in the British zone was bombarded and occupied. The French Commander has undertaken this will not recur.
Westward of the sources of the Jordan, a French column met considerable opposition, and had not reached its objectives by May 25th. Large numbers of refugees have fled into tho British zone, and refuse to return.
