Hodge announced that the Government was making another offer on Monday. ! The "Daily Express" states that it was decided to ircrease the offer to the miners to two shillings por day, based , on a 20 per cent, advance. j The decision of the miners to accept ' a percentage basis instead of a flat rate gives promise of an agreem -nt. The Government is loss corcerned about tile miners' precise demand than about LTi. ii- return to the full system of payment by results. TRAMWAYMEN'S DISPUTE. LONDON, March 27. ! Thr> executive of the Transport Workers' Union has ordered the tramwaymen's branches throughout the country to terder strike notices expiring on April 3rd, but the strike may possibly be averted by negotiations in the meantime.

! LONDON. Marjph 27. A mass meeting of London sclioo teachers, who are dissatisfied with th ii pny, was held to hear j\lr H. A. L : Fisher, President of the Hoard of Education, who was shouted down, despite the appeals of Mr Cobb, the chairman of the London Comity Council's cation Committer, and the Bishop of iLondon. , Mr Fisher thereupon quitted the hall, and the meeting broke up in disorder.
