The quarterly meeting of the Kannora Methodist Circuit was held in the Woodend Methodist Chnrch on Thursday. The Rev J. Gny presided. The treasurer reported that the inoome had exceeded the expenditure by about £11. The officers reported that the different branches of the Chnrch work were very satisfactory. At tho request of the Woodend portion of the Circuit, it was decided to invite the Rov. Val Trigge to hold a mission there during the winter months. Messrs J. Tail and A. Graham were reelected Circuit stewards. Mr S. Ay erg and Mrs Ayers were elected representatives to the conferenco, with Messrs wj Cr. Whiteside and T. Dennis as substitutes. Both ministers intimated that they would not be attending the conference this year. It waa decided to recommend conference to consider tho question of altering tho date of tho conference to early in the spring. Mr A. Catchpole, one of the oldest Church stewards, intimated that owing to failing health this would probably be tho lait quarterly meeting that ho would attend. Motions of sympathy were passed with Mrs Nottingham and Mrs Topp in their bereavements. ASHBUBTON. Tho quarterly meeting of the Ashburton Me<hodi9t Circuit was held on Thursday, the Rev. T. W. Vealie presiding. The chairman referred to tho number of bereavements that had ben suffered during tho past quarter, p.nd moved that letters of condolenco be sent to Mr F. 11. Steel, Misses Watson. Mrs C. W. Baker. — HurTell, and Mr F. Frampton. The membership was reported as 2SO, and the Sunday School roll 230. Dnring the quarter tho Young Worshippers' League had been successfully launched with a roll number of 70. Tho balance-sheet showed a credit balance of £5 Hi 2d. The Circuit steward reported that during tho' quarter the committee appointed had procured a motor-car for the minister. A bonus of £5 was granted to Mr Belshaw. Tho meeting supported the suggested increase of tho supernumerary allowances by 15 per cent. Messrs F. Frampton and I). McClymont were elected Circuit stewards. Messrs J. Watson and C. G. Andrews were appointed representatives to conference. At tho close Mesdames Frampton and Collins dispensed refreshments.
