It is reported in woll-informcd circles that tho British Government proposes to continue the control of butter and cheese for the next two years, and will be tho sole importor of butter in tho United Kingdom over that period. SUGGESTED FREE MARKET. (pbeSs association telegram.) AUCKLAND, January 7. At a conference of representatives of the dairy producers of the Auckland Province, held to-day, it was rosolved: —"That this meeting of representative producers affirms the principle of a free ; market for dairy produce, and insists • on it at tho expiration of tho present deal on July 31st next." 1
