1 Their Excellencies tho Earl and Countess of Liverpool wero present at last night's performance of "Tho Bird of Paradise" at the Theatre Royal. Mr J. S. Triggs, of the Eastern Extension Cable Co.'s staff, left last night for Wellington, en routo to tho East. At tho meeting of the Farmers' Union yesterday, Mr D. Jones, M.P., was heartily congratulated on winning tho Kaiapoi seat at tho recent goneral elections.
