AUSTRALIAN ENGINEERS' ESTIMATE. Tho Mayor stated to a rpprcsontativo of "Tho Press" yesterday that ho had received an estimate from Messrs Timms and Kidman, tho big contractors of Gronfoll 6trect, Adelaide, for tho construction of "Port Christchurch" according to tho published plans. Tho Mayor proposes to call tho principal men conccrned in tho Port Christcliurch League together to-day, to discuss tho estimate. "I cannot reveal what tho actnal figures of tho estimate arc," said tho Mayor, "but I can say that they aro astonishingly moderate—less than half tho cost of tho proposod resurrection of Lyttolton and tho construction of tho Tunnel road. Messrs Timms and Kidman also 6ccm to view tho Port Christchurch proposal with a great deal of favour."
