Tho Prime Minister stated to-day that by arrangement with tho head office of tho Colonial Sugar Company, an officer has been appointed by the Board of Trado to work in conjunction with tho company's Auckland manager in connexion with the distribution of sugar, as from to-morrow. The proposed allocation of sugar will bo on a percentage basis, worltcd on average requirements covering tho last threo years. Tho distribution will bo as follows: — (1) Household requirements. (2) Erscntial industries. Tho officer appointed for tho purpose will assume responsibility for a fair allocation of the sugar availablo. An endeavour will also be mado to overcomo tho difficulties of distribution occasioned V>v the uncertainty of coastal shipping. The Colonial Sugar Company anticipate being ablo to supply normal demands from now onwards, provided that thero rs no interruption to shipping.
